Oh What a Lucky Woman!

April 29, 1997

Even though I am not usually of a romantic, sentimental nature, Jim and I actually had a surprisingly "sweet" first anniversary. Most of that, of course, has to do with the baby. A year ago, I could only hope that this day would come -- that we would be given another opportunity to have a child. We both feel lucky, not a feeling that comes easy to either of us.

I just feel all-round special lately. I am the first one of my email loop buddies to become pregnant since we all first started talking last Fall. I am thankful that each of them have taken it so well; I was prepared for a few unintentional cold shoulders, but have had nothing but wild exclamations of support. They are truly good friends. I hope that we all end up meeting on "Oprah" with our babes in-tow!

Jim is as supportive as he can be around the house, and my sister helps out a little, too. Regardless of what we're told, I'm taking no chances and giving in to my body whenever it says "stop!". Needless to say, my house is a wreck, but I don't care -- well, not all of the time anyway!

We are focused on the next ultrasound, for which Jim has already made plans to be off from work in order to attend. He missed the first one; he has no intentions of missing the next. I can't wipe this stupid grin off of my face every day...
