Well, we're all moved into our new house! It was pretty tough on me, as you're growing and growing and... in fact, a little over two weeks ago, you were measured at 5 pounds (actually 4 lb. 14 oz) by Dr. K. So moving for me consisted of packing and unpacking, a teeny little bit of carrying boxes, and lots of cleaning. As a result, I started having lots of painless contractions that lasted 24 hours, so I had to lie in bed all day last Monday. The contractions passed and you're still inside me, thank goodness.
Then your grandmother, Lucille, came into town from New Jersey to visit. She was here for our big shower this past Saturday -- what fun that was!
Before all the hubbub, I was lying in bed that morning, getting yet another clear picture in my head that this is really happening -- and I couldn't hold back the tears. Your mother has learned not to count her chickens before they hatch, which means that sometimes it takes a while before I feel the sting of reality on my face (or in this case, the warmth of it.) Hang in there, baby boy -- just four more weeks before the doctor releases my stitches. According to him, I will then have a 50/50 chance of delivering you within either a couple of days or a few more weeks.
We have the crib in your room, but have yet to assemble it -- dad says he'll do it this week. I'm ready to quit work and just focus on getting ready for you...
I finally convinced the Ballet Academy's Administrator to sit down and talk with me about who is taking care of my duties after you arrive. I think everything will be fine there.
I've really felt tired and dragging this past week -- absolutely no energy and pain in my pubic bone area have made it a rough week.
Went to purchase the Morris family portraits that we had taken a couple of weeks ago, and I was absolutely horrified at how I look! I wanted to get a picture of me pregnant with you (that part doesn't bother me at all!), but my skin looks totally gray and my undereye circles are so apparent even though I put makeup on for the first time in months.
Trying to do as little as possible around the house, but you know me... I can't believe that there's a whole 'nuther month left of this! You don't seem to be slowing down, well, not completely. You certainly don't have as much room to roll around in. You are going to be one huge kid...
Well, surprise, surprise!! Guess who decided to make his debut a little early?!! You were born today at 9:48 p.m. after trying to get out the whole day! Sorry mommy's cervix didn't cooperate! You are my long, skinny boy, perfect in every way! What a cute little face you have, and dark blond hair. And long, long feet and fingers! We were right -- you would have been absolutely huge if you had gone to full-term. As it is, you are 6 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 inches long. I can't believe that you are finally here...
