PRONATAL was founded in 1996 and was the 1st clinic in Czechoslovakia with childbirth after cryopreservation of the embryo and the 2nd clinic in Czechoslovakia with childbirth after IVF.
The founder of PRONATAL is Doc. MUDr. Tonko Mardešić, CSc. He has been engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of sterility since 1986, when under his leadership, the team achieved a number of priorities within Czechoslovakia and later in the Czech Republic (first delivery after thawed embryo transfer, first birth after the application of micromanipulation procedures in the zona pellucida, application of cocultivation systems).
Treatment in a centre for assisted reproduction is, according to the legislation, a couple therapy. Therefore, the presence of both partners, who are of opposite genders (married or not), is required (both partners do not have to be present at every step of the treatment). Due to the legislation, it is thus not possible for single women or homosexual couples to apply for assisted reproduction.
Artificial insemination cannot be used to select the sex of the child.
Donation of gametes in the Czech Republic is fully anonymous. It is impossible for the donor and receiver to identify one another. The donation of eggs is voluntary, anonymous and complimentary.
The law further states that the age of a woman in embryotransfer must not exceed 48 years +364 days.
