Spain IVF legal restrictions & laws

Every form of fertility treatment in Spain is regulated by national laws, including 14/2006 (ART Law). Spain is a Christian country, but they have a very open approach to all kinds of infertility treatment.

For example, unmarried couples, singles, or anyone in the LGBT community can receive treatment.

They have stricter laws regarding Egg donors. These donors have guaranteed anonymity, new parents will know the age and blood type of the donor, and the offspring will have non-identifying information to help find genetic siblings. Egg Donors have also limited 6 live births.

A maximum of three embryos may be transferred and gender selection is only allowed in the case of inherited gender-related diseases.
